Category A: Receivers: A higher score in this category indicates that you are a stronger receiver of messages initiated by another’s or other’s thought(s). For example, you think of a person moments before receiving mail or a telephone call from him/her. This is a telepathic message (a thought occurring between sources within a short period of time or instantaneous – messages or knowledge about distant past or future events are a different ESP ability.). Receiving is a very rewarding communication skill to possess. You can be more prepared for news and situations that will occur as well as assist others to find a "voice" when physical communication is difficult.  Receivers tend to be nurturing people who like to please others by sharing their loving, helpful nature. They are often found in many healing, helping and creative arts professions. As healers this ability is most useful to zero in on areas that are not in good health and help in healing. On the down side, a healer can become so overwhelmed with the pain that (s)he actually takes it on becoming ill. As an artist the beauty of receiving inspiration from seen and unseen influences is a benefit. Keep focused, open gently to a flow around you and endeavour to work on one creation at a time. A challenge of receivers is learning to communicate clearly their own thoughts and needs as well as to know what degree of helping they are willing to give or help.  Receivers tend often let people be too dependent upon them, thinking they know the answers or cure. Suggestion: wait to be asked before acting. They have tendencies toward feeling victimize, thinking they are taken advantage of by doing so much for others hence experience ill health and exhaustion. They must learn to differentiate between what their thoughts and feelings are and what are those of others. Learn more about receiving skills. Order June’s CD & booklet.

24 -20: You are a very keen receiver and possibly even to some degree, a mystic, channel or visionary. Then again, you may be receiving too much. If you are feeling quite confused, depleted or burned out from your high-scattered mental energy it may be that you are being bombarded from receiving too much.  Learn to clear mind and body and harness your energy through daily meditation. Balance serving other’s needs with letting others serve yours. Understand your life purpose clearly and take care of yourself as well as you care for others.

14-19: You are clearly receiving information but may be confused to the validity of it. Strengthen your confidence and validate your messages i.e. ask the person if your message received is in line with her/his thoughts or situation. Become clearer with messages through understanding how you receive i.e. symbolism; dreams; visions, putting words and pictures to feelings. Strengthen your confidence by playing telepathic games with another.

7-13: Two situations may be occurring - you are receiving so much information that you are mentally shutting off, or you are too busy sending that you are unaware of the world around you. Pay attention to what surrounds you and how it emotionally, physically and mentally affects you. Learn to listen to others verbally and non-verbally - relationships may improve. Validate messages - ask the source if you are correct.

1-6:  Somewhere along the course of life you have lost focus on your true self and life purpose. Perhaps by spending too much time on your own thing. Have others said that you must always be in control? Do you work too hard for what you want?  Are you so controlled by others’ needs that you feel life is not fair?  Does your life feel scattered? You may be missing messages for a go-ahead on your goals. Read about co-dependents, creative visualization and manifestation.

Category B Senders: A higher score indicates that you are a stronger sender by sending messages of what and whom you need to assist in accomplishing your mission and goals. Senders usually are action type people, confident leaders and move forward with determined purpose. Senders can accomplish goals easily when clearly aware and relaxed. They can be quite articulate in speech, good planners and great visionaries. Trained properly, they can be powerful healers. Highly developed senders contribute to the spiritual growth of the world by sending powerful messages that advance humanity to higher levels. Spiritually advanced senders know how to take and give fairly, balancing their goals so that others also realize fulfilment. Senders attract willing participants easily to help them achieve goals. But they can, and will, control, manipulate and domineer to get what they want, no matter what the cost. A sender may be so focused on their goals that they are tunnel-visioned, not paying attention to the often-subtle responses of attainment. They are often perfectionist, demanding much of themselves and others. Because they are mentally busy they are highly agitated, overly aggressive, stressful and often, volatile. Senders do have a wonderful ability to vision and create and when balanced bring around positive and progressive changes. There are many ways to develop and use your sending abilities.

20- 24: You are a highly developed sender, connected to a Higher Source, consciously or not. That source is sending you what and who is needed to create and manifest a happy successful life on your karmic path. Recognize the helpful loving people in your life supporting your goals. Be aware how you might dominate or control them to summit to your way. Trust the process if you find confusion arises over how to attain. When manifesting a goal you can be obsessed and overly focused losing a sense of balance of your goals with those of others. You do have the power to positively affect others and the world and no doubt have a wonderfully charming ability to create goals in a win-win way. Review if you are balanced between sending (taking) and receiving (giving).

14-19: You are aware that what you want you usually get, but with some effort (Rolling Stones’ you may not get what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need.)  Learn to listen on a physical and non-physical level to more easily receive (even subtle) to hear go-ahead messages confirming that what you asked for is manifesting. Also, keep an open ear and mind other’s viewpoints. Be aware not to look for the perfect result. Take a more patient approach; a step-by-step processes to where you are going. Review your progress often to see if you are in the flow or pushing too hard. Learn to keep your thoughts clear and simple to more easily manifest. Life doesn’t have to be an uphill struggle.

7-13: Perhaps you are not direct with what you want from life or you may be taking care of others too much and overly involved by giving advice or doing you what think is best for them. Do you have specific goals? Or, do you just take life as it comes? You may not be aware that what you are receiving in life is really what you are thinking. If you don’t like it, check your thoughts for negative, fearful or doubtful ones. Practice stating your wish or goal and ending with “I know this or something better will come into my life.”  Count your blessings daily. You may also be mentally scattered with too much on you mind. Learn to clear your mind and be more focused on what you wish to accomplish.

1-6: Who is running your life? Do you think that life is just by chance or dominated by fate or others? Most likely you give too much of your energy and feel empty or victimized. Be more conscious of how you create life experiences and relationships by what you mentally envision. Life has many joyful rewards! The good news is that you are the creator of your life.

 Category C

10b: #1 clairaudio (clear sound)- You hear or speak mental words or statements when telepathically receiving or sending/attracting, Learn to focus on  hearing clearly and keep it simple and short when sending for best results. #2 -clairvoyant (clear seeing) - You mentally see through an image, symbol, picture or even on-going action like watching a film, messages receiving or sending. Learn to stay focused and keep it simple i.e. one image, not jumping around. If too many come at one time, breathe and accept only one.

11b:  #1: clairsentience (clear feeling). This can be the most difficult to translate into a message. Learn to verbalize and image your feelings before sending or receiving. #2-clairaudio. #3-clairvoyant.   #4: clairsentience

12: Your number answer will help determine the level of ESP. Feeling the presence of non-visible energy indicates that you have, to some degree, the ability to communicate with non-physical entities. Learn to relax (June’s Release & Relax CD) when in contact to see the presence as an image form. Say “Hello”, “Welcome” or “That’s enough, leave me alone!”

13: Dreams or visions that manifest indicate that you have moved beyond telepathy into precognition (knowing the future). Life shouldn’t be too surprising when you see where you’re going. Learn to use it wisely.

Tír na nÓg A Witch Cure

About Tir na nÓg my Witch Cure center in  French Gulch, Northern California, an enchanting chalet hidden amongst trees.  For a larger image of any pictures - just click on them to enlarge.

FrenchgulchIt was as blessedly wonderful as the name promised––Tír na nÓg an Irish Celtic mythological place. The name translates as the Land of Eternal Youth or the Land of the Ever-Young. There happiness lasted forever and why not? This is what you can enjoy; serene music, good health, and a bounty of food and drink.

Each morning the day started sitting sat on deck drinking tea, listening to singing birds and the bubbling brook footsteps away. Listening to the wizard chime words of wisdom to the angel and me. CIMG0083 My entertainment was a daily show of various colorful birds flying high and low, landing on the feeder in an amusing pecking order, spilling birdseed for the grounded squirrels, that stuffed their cheeky cheeks A loud honking gaggle of geese flew up stream, dragging their feet through the water and a large raccoon washing his hands in the water, lumbered off. One day, a deer carefully picked her way through the leaves only inches from me. It was then I was sure Snow White would emerge from the woods.

The brook was a wonderful relief from the afternoon's heat as hubby and I waded through the very cool water, carefully picking our pathway while looking for rocks to skip -  he was much better than I at it so I put him to work.

CIMG0077

Besides that my days were spent eating, sleeping, reading and drawing and enveloping the enchanting ever-blooming wonders abound.  I didn’t turn on the music I so carefully chose for my holiday, for it could not compare with nature's orchestra that soothed my tired soul, my body, mind and spirit.

Hubby, not too tired from working, called out "Come ~ play!" CIMG0082 Our playground was found in the old claw foot bathtub - perfect!

CIMG0084

I danced through the house, giggling, renewed in energy.

Ah Tír na nÓg I dream you ~ awaiting my return to the “other world.”

Witch Takes Mother Nature's Cure

Longing to rid myself of the muggle ways of living in a too busy metropolis I take flight, packing lightly my broom, as my quest for renewal of spirit begins. My retreat will bring me to the restful arm's of Mother Nature, the surest pathway for revitalizing this witch's depleted magic,.  In muggle terms, I'm on holiday.

A lover of nature, I give my struggling soul to Her green grass, melody of rippling leaves rustling in the gentle breeze of summer. An array of delicate flowers in glorious bloom send heavenly scents to titillate me to view their beauty.   All to heal my senses, dulled by over-done activities. Already I hear the gushing waters of the stream moving across rocks, suggesting to my soul a  cleansing of harried duties and worries lodged in mind.

WishesSuch thinking as I'm late, I'm late for a very important date - releases from my consciousness as the road to my haven widens.

Mm

My spirit hears the giggles and cooing of the forest's fairies enticing me to dance skyclad amongst the trees.  Joining in the merriment my witch spirit is swept further away from the heaviness of worry and schedules.

Like the myriad of forest birds - dressed in every color of joy and serenity, I bask in the healing gift of the life surrounding me.

Cabin
In deep satisfaction I snuggle in my lover's arms and whisper, "What's for dinner?"  After all, a witch must eat too.

Thinking About Magic Making

Becoming a witch meant I could have a grand time with spells and that included not only casting but  learning so many different ones researching how words and gestures enhance the intention and shopping in the variety of shops that sell occult objects, tools and paraphernalia.

Either I've become a backslider or found that casting a spell isn't necessary for creating magic in my life. Let me assure you that I do, on occasion cast a spell but my daily thoughts before, during and after meditating are increasingly my source of power.

As I had learned when approaching spells, magic truly begins in the mind of the creators. Although must admit that the ritual of manifesting through spell casting holds a quality of power that is truly magical. A spell is a time to focus one's intention clearly through the enjoyment and beauty of a ritual. It helps to pull in scattered thoughts into one-pointed thinking.

Altar  Preparing for the spell - gathering selected colored candles, incense, flowers and other objects is like a joyful treasure hunt. Setting up the altar and then dressing or undressing for the ritual creates a sacredness to the possibilities to come. Eventually I learned how the driving force of my mentalism was the truth and spells became limited in my witch practice. Yet I maintain an altar with candles, incense and other special (holy) objects to enjoy while I focus on creating from the power of my mind's images.

Grand Eureka Time

Last Saturday at Eureka Valley Recreation Park I was one of three ( Susan Maher & Marie Callaghan on a panel of old residents to discuss life in this famous neighborhood before it became known as "The Castro."

Memories of Most Holy Redeemer school and life with the BVM nuns were a much lively conversation. Although the other two panelist thought of the difficult and often cruel times with the nuns and Catholic church, I remember some positive ones also.  The days at EV park was a huge positive memory for all especially for Marie who fondly reminisced about two of the directors, Dody and Clair’s, encouraging influence on her life. The Castro theater filled every Saturday with kids was laughingly called the “babysitter.”

Main_history_3a Memories of the neighborhood stores like Cliff's who put on the annual Halloween parade, costume and ice cream eating contests and the mechanical dinosaur were spoken about as were Mueller’s Swiss deli, Rossi’s meat market, ice cream shop (softies w/birdseed) and mentioned were the nine bars in two block radius.  Eureka Valley was mostly Irish, Swiss, Swedes, some Italians and a then us, the Scottish immigrants.

I mentioned that my family's first home in the US was on Market Street, (featured in The Skye in June) is now a center for psychic classes (ESP/Tarot) and readings, a coincidence since one character in my story experiences psychic phenomena lived at that very address. Then I read an excerpt from my novel.

There were many questions and sharing from the audience. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence with their headdresses, white faces and colorful dresses and who generously contributed and sponsored the event - Friends of the Library, had questions about life with the nuns and the first signs of the changing of the neighborhood into the gay mecca it was to become. Other in the audience shared historical facts and stories. One saying that Eureka Valley was the heart (center) of San Francisco.  It holds a huge part in my heart.

Former owner of Thomas’ Cleaners spoke and had a table with antique irons including one heated by a Coleman gas contraption as well as some cast iron ones and early electric ones.

Author Jim Strange (Strange de Jim) presented a slide show and his book, San Francisco’s Castro.

Witch Pole Dancing

Looking for the first weekly chapters from my novel? See link on blog below.

On May Ist along with my witch coven, I'll travel winding roads to a mountain retreat to celebrate Beltane

one of the two biggest yearly pagan (
Wicca, goddess, witch) celebrations.                   M_1728516e8a5efe74bbef9726e456c263
May Day more on earlier blog

AKA May Day Beltane honors Bel, the god of fire and summer and gyrates into full bloom starting nightfall April 30th to sundown May 1st.
There are many traditional rituals: all night burning Beltane fires; circling meadows, great feasts of butter & cheeses, honey, eggs etc.

But the most known ritual is the may pole dance with, usually women, skipping around entwining a tree with colored ribbons - symbolic of the male mating with the female as she surrounds him - the ribbons flowing from the crown of the pole downward to women bonds the two as one.  Oh! such pleasures at this ancient Celt celebration! Lift his kilt, lassie!

Even as a child my favorite Catholic holy day was the  M
ay Day celebration honoring Our Lady, Mary.  One year my sister, Frances Mary, was chosen to crown Our Lady not knowing that years later she'd be celebrating this Catholic holy day in a different way.
.MaychurchWacky_witch_jumping_2
We Catholic chil
dren weren't aware the celebration was an ancient pagan ritual as we gathered in the early a.m. on the first Sunday of May to walk across the street to Most Holy Redeemer church on Diamond/18th Sts.                                 MayDiamondst  Although Most Holy Redeemer church changed the statue of Mary in the small garden (also included in my book) is still there. As a young person I'd  visit to pray trusting Her with my needs.
Maygarden2   All in all the celebration of the goddess and in the Catholic faith that is Mary, Jesus' mother, is deeply honored by me to this day. Praise be the Great goddess for She is the Mother and Keeper of Children of the Earth! Go forth this May Day and do some pole dancing! Fun! Oh Lordy - Sun Lord that is.

Fishy in Eureka Valley

On each Friday being Catholics we couldn't eat meat, which was fine because my mother made the most delicious fish n' chips. Back in the day it was lard that brought that buttery golden to the food. Fish was in the blood for we Callaghans and when a fish shop on 18th off Castro Street came up for sale, my parents bought it around 1967. Below is a picture of my mother, Maria, or Mrs. Callaghan as she is better know (still going at 88.) Eventually, a bigger store opened up and the shop started to lose money. The building next door with a large shop on ground level and flat came up for sale and my parents bought that opening the first and last, fish in chips shop in Eureka Valley, called Village Fish n' Chips. The village referred to how my father thought of EV with everyone knowing everyone's business - well at least The Callaghans' - rambunctious clan they were!

Shop opened around 1968 and when my father's health began to fail, closed in the early 1970's. It was a true loss for the Valley and our family.

Mr. Callaghan (my father)P with Pat Williams - a lot of neighborhood kids had a job at Village Fish n' Chips. Me included. We used the newspaper roll with lots of vinegar and salt and that good old bad fatty lard food fare!

History "The Castro" Eureka Valley

My husband's family, the Briesachs, owned a pool hall called The Corner Pocket on the corner of Castro and 19th in Eureka Valley in San Francisco. Mr. and Mrs. Briesach ran a fun safe place but unfortunately the new residents of the neighborhood complained about the business, causing the closing of it.

This 1969 photo was the corner of Castro and 18th Streets in Eureka Valley that is now often referred to as The Castro. My sister, Marie, live above the liquor store. The Hibernia bank on opposite corner and down from the bank my parents first owned a fish, small grocery store and later building after white store sign - The Village Fish n' chip shop.

See the girl to right in Catholic school uniform? That would be from Most Holy Redeemer, the neighborhood parochial school that I went to and also featured, under another name, in my book.

Hollywood Love For Skye in June

WOW DID THIS WITCH SCORE!
Aftercrew

Left to right: Alistair Mackie, Laura Hale, Gavyin Powers, author, June Ahern, Katie Garland, Heidi Schooler & Pamela Newlands.

My recent book reading & stage play event in Hollywood was beyond my hopes. Up to the week before only two actors were secure and my Scottish speaking actors could not be found. I wailed, Is there no Scot actors in all of Hollywood-dom?  Frantically I placed a Craigs List ad and the Craig gods answered - two choice Scottish actors manifested with 24 hours! Two more actors were found too for other roles and voila! The Skye in June Acts Out was ready for stage.

I am so blessed with the very talented actors (read below) who signed up, not for pay (as there was none) but because they loved the story/script.

Magen J. Callaghan, Producer of The Skye in June Acts Out - this is who brought Skye n' me to LA.

Pamela Newlands captured the soul essence of Cathy MacDonald, the mother in the story. Pamela
Pamela innately knew when to show the character's repression and fear of Jimmy, her husband, and when to surge forward, fighting back at the injustice of his cruel unfairness.  Pamela is Cathy.

Born and raised in the Scottish town of East Kilbride Pamela now resides in Los Angeles. In addition to her acting career, Pamela is also a singer/songwriter whose vocals and music have been featured in radio, commercials, film and television in both Europe and the USA. A classically trained vocalist, she has studied voice with coaches from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, La Scala in Italy and voice builder Gary Catona. She has shared the bill with a diverse range of musical acts in various genres including Travis, Natalie Imbruglia and the Pointer Sisters. Recently she voiced the main character in the children's animated series 'Tiny Oaks' and recorded vocals for five songs on the accompanying album composed by two time Academy Award winning composer Richard Sherman (Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World). Pamela has also scored and composed music for films. Read more and contact Pamela through her website: http://www.pamelanewlands.com

AA-HS_069 Heidi Schooler was quite challenged when she took on the role of June MacDonald which had this talented actress age from five to eight years old and then to fourteen within an hour. I was concerned if Heidi could pull it off.

WOW! Completely believable. Heidi2 Her facial expressions and body language evolved with each scene - a giggle,  a switch of a headband, a ponytail and then to the teen, sullen and angry. The audience laughed, cried and felt her rage as teen June (Heidi)  confronts Cathy.

Heidi has been very busy with diverse work in film, TV, theatre, & voiceover. She has appeared on such programs as CSI: NY episode,  A Mock Time: A Star Trek Wedding  as well as various films and also independent films: Protestskaya, and Girrl directed by Gabriel Bologna, soon-to-be released Only In Paris, 8 O'Clock,  Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula & Oliver Stone's The Doors. Heidi was chosen for LA Weekly's "star turn" for her performance as Mary Magdalene in He Was Here. Her voiceovers include work for Walmart's TV & Radio campaigns as their spokeswoman & of Lois Lane for Warner Bros.'s past re-release of Superman 2. Schooler is in development writing her own comedic one-woman show, Got Nerve. Heidi’s contact: The Williams Talent Agency (Larry Williams) 323-871-2416 or Michael Abrams, mgr. 323-656-9503.

Alistair Mackie  Alistair

is a soft-spoken genial man until he became Jimmy MacDonald on stage.Dour faced and grumpy voiced he greeted his wife, Cathy (Pamela) in the hospital and then on to menacingly threaten her as she tried in vain to protect June  from him.

 June reading with Actors

Gayvinsisternoel Gayvin Powers’ ability to shift between two characters with different accents (Mrs. G’s Polish and Sister Noel, So. African) was a delight to see and hear. With old Mrs. G (Gayvin) donned a shawl changing it to a nun’s veil, as she became young pretty Sister Noel – both characters June’s psychic teachers.

Gayvin (scriptwriter for this event) is the winner of the Ojai Film Society Award for her short film 1916. She received her Master of Arts in Screenwriting at the American Film Institute in 2007. With a combined total of 12 years in front of the camera and in theater, Gayvin began her journey in writing out of sheer frustration due to the few options available for strong female leads and characters in film and TV. It was out of that dissatisfaction that Gayvin started writing well-developed characters and stories, specializing in Celtic, journey-driven dramas and dramedys. Since the mid-1990s, she has been actively writing scripts, novels, commercials, and poems, some if which have been published and optioned. It's Gayvin's goal to create films and novels that embody the human experience, bringing forth films that enlighten and entertain audiences. Contact Gayvin at hrhdarcy@yahoo.com

Actors

                                                                                            Mother Superior watches over actors.

Laura Hale also had two juicy roles to play and did so with excellence.Lauragypsy1

Shrouded by a shawl she bent low for the aged gypsy, bracelets tinkling, predicting the fate of Cathy and June. Between scenes she snuck off stage to appear in time as the mean-spirited Sister St. Pius, standing ramrod straight and ready to chastise and torment June.

Laura is a child development specialist for 25 years and is a dynamic and sought after public speaker. In commercial radio she was an engaging substitute talk show host, ably interviewing and entertaining on political topics. Additionally she prepared and presented a Weekly Child Development segment for the morning show. "Imagination Station" has been her most theatrical acting to date as writer, host & actor of 26 episodes of children’s radio theater. Laura has had articles published and was technical editor for S. I. Focus magazine. Contact Laura at Laura Hale laurahaleot@gmail.com

Katieread Katie Garland quickly fell into character as one of the MacDonald sisters, Mary at 16 years. She was asked to "dress"  for the 1964's scene and showed in bellbottoms, and paisley blouse, which was cool but it was the peace sign earrings that I said was the  great touch for her sassy, tough Mary role hanging out in the Haight.

Katie moved to Los Angeles this past February after a year at Florida State University to pursue her life long dream of becoming a professional actress rather than wonder ‘what could have been.’ While looking for an agent Katie actively pursues her acting by auditioning as often as she can. Last time we talked Katie said that things are going really well for her now and she’s glad she made the move to Los Angeles. Katie can be contacted Talent6  - www.talent6.com
